Federal Government on reopening of School, Churches, Mosques and others


There been non-stop complaints by religious establishments, schools and companies over the continuous extension of the lockdown in the country. Many have criticized the Federal Government for not allowing the operation of church, while colleges and organizations are also quite inhibited by the interstate lockdown.
However, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Mustapha, who is also the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, sent a message across at some stage in the daily media briefing on Tuesday.
He stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to increase the eased lockdown for some two more weeks is in the Government's bid to contain the spread of the Coronavirus before the the lockdown can be called off.
He also humbly said that the Federal Government's action isn't punitive, and that the Government share in our pains and concerns.
He went on to iterate that the two additional weeks of Lockdown need to be utilized by organizations, places of worship, offices, expert bodies, educational institutions e.T.C which are all awaiting reopening, and for them to devise and undertake new strategies to fight COVID-19 in line with the guidelines.
He reiterated that behavioral change must be adopted by every citizen so as to stay safe.
